Over 200 artists show at South London annual alfresco Art Fair
For the 13th year running residents of South London’s Josephine Avenue will be turning their sleepy street into a bustling Art Fair. With over 200 exhibitors this is a great opportunity to buy work direct from the artists and discover a wealth of creative skills, including street-art, painting, printmaking, photography and mixed media. Exhibitors range from the novice to the established and with prices to match this really is an event for all art lovers, whatever your budget.
Please note that we have now moved the event to the SECOND weekend in July.
This is the weekend BEFORE the Lambeth Country Show.
We will again be including our exciting newStreet Art area organised by PositiveArts.co.uk where artists will be be creating live work on our nine White Walls. We also hope to bring back our London Tube Train, which will again be sprayed live during the weekend.
To nourish your senses even further we willl have a mouth watering selection of international food stalls, including Mexican, Indian, Carribean and Wholedfood cafe.
All sales during the weekend will help raise funds for our charity partners who provide the volunteers during the weekend making this whole event possible.
So make a date in your diary for some al fesco art next Summer...
12th and 13th July, Josephine Avenue, London SW2
Josephine Avenue SW2
Josephine Avenue is one of the many hidden treasures of Brixton, London SW2. This historic tree lined avenue was restored to its Victorian splendour in the 1970's when the railings were replaced after the originals were removed for the 'war effort'.
As well as its Victorian past, the ancient oak tree outside number 40 is reputed to be where Sir Walter Raleigh courted Elizabeth I while punting on the River Effra.
Josephine Avenue is situated South of Brixton Town Centre and North West of Herne Hill. Travel links include:

Urban Art 2012
Here is a short video of last year's Urban Art event which proved to be our most popular yet with over 170 exhibitors showing their work and thousands of visitors enjoying the art in our street. Despite the odd shower on the Saturday Josephine Avenue soon filled up with eager art lovers keen to find a potential bargain. And they were not disappointed. Record sales of over £40,000 of work sold meant happy customers, rewarded artists and a record amount of money raised for our charity partners.
We thank everyone who helped make the event such a success, both visitors, artists and volunteers, and look forward to seeing you all again this July. We have a few surprises in store so be prepared for an even bigger art extravaganza.
